The VPF (Virtual Print Fee) is a mechanism by which Hollywood helps offset the cost of D-Cinema equipment investment by exhibitors. There are huge potential savings for Hollywood by eliminating the costs of film prints and their distribution. The challenge is that exhibition must make sizable investments in D-Cinema equipment for these savings to be realized over the long term by eliminating film distribution. The VPF is a reimbursement from Hollywood studios and distributors made to the exhibitor or integrator for using a “digital print” instead of a film print.  Those funds can then be applied towards the Exhibitor’s or Integrator’s cost of the new technology.

VPF programs are available now, but are slated to end in the latter part of 2012. It is unknown what, if any, subsequent VPF programs might be made available after the current programs end. The industry conversion process is happening very quickly – over 50% of the US screens are already digital.

Don’t wait, there are various VPF and financing options available NOW to exhibitors. Allow STRONG to guide you through this process, helping you to select the best options to meet your business needs.
